The area around Catania posses a large variety of flowers and the sincerity of its habitans is impressing.
Also Goehte knew about the beauty of this Island, Taormina and the area around that
vulcano
etna to appreciate.
The volcano itself is the largest throughout Europe. and one of the most active fire mountains of the world. It is ca. 3450 meters high and impressed 2002 on 2003 entirely Catania and the remainder of the world. It was altogether four months especially active and appeared of a new side. The Islands has been grown up by little fire mountains, which aren't active anymore. You can reach the islands only by ferry , because there are no airports build. Ferries can be taken of Milazo, Messina, Chefalu and Palermo to reach the eolie islands. The little island group consists of following islands: Lipari, Salina, Vulkano, Stromboli, Panarea and Filicudi. Whereby Stromboli is well the best known of the six islands, there it an active volcano, which you can hear ca. every 30 minutes of itself, because of his strong activity. Altogether one can say that this volcano is almost 3000 meters high and belong to the most active volcanoes of the world. The danger is very low because the area around the vulcano is settled thinly. Lipari can be booked as well largest and population richest island of the archipelago, from here you can take ferry to all other islands. Lipari has ca. 9000 inhabitants and an area of 36 square kilometers. The island Vulkano is confessed because of the many sulfur column and they say to take a bath in these sulfur muds would be good for body and soul. Panarea is the littlest yet most exclusive island of the archipelago, here you can find villas of the wealthy Italians which gives the island a expensive look, what it is well also. The island Salina is the second largest however greenest of all islands because this possesses a rich water occurrence and offer the necessary wet to the plants to let them grow well. An interesting island for nature lovers. On this island, one receives also the so-called Malvasia wine Which is made out of a very sweet grapes and is confessed as an island specialty. Alicudi and Filicudi have no harbors. These islands are gotten through of stairways and are thinly settled. Before the western coast of Sicily, you'll find the Agadic islands also Isole Egadi. Who however seeks typical baths beaches as well as in San Vito lo Capo at Castelamare is wrong on this island. Lampedusa lies 205 km of the sicilian coast and only 113 km of the tunesic coast. The island is more closely at Africa than at Sicilia but nevertheless Lampedusa belonged it geographic seen to Italy. Lampedusa possesses an area of ca. 20 square kilometers. From East to west the island measures 9 kilometers and from north to south only 3 kilometers, You can make your investigation-Trips also well on foot. On this island is produced a special wine named "Marsala", the wine gets its name by the city near Trapani called "Marsala". This wine is made of premium raisin with small and sweet grapes.
