Sicilian folklore music, different Tarantella versions

In this area, i would like to present a couple of older sicilian folklore music. It concerns the "Tarantella" in diffrent versions according to the origin of themself.

First of all i want to explain the word "tarantella" more exactly, the word "tarantella" has its roots in the word "tarantel" which is a large spider who you can meet in africa and other warm regions. On sicily there will be found also some kind of diffrent spiders, but that can't be compared with that kind of spiders out of africa. A legend purported that you should dance the Dance of tarantella after you were bit by such spiders. It shoould be the best remedie around against the poison of such spiders. I think that the Dance increases the hemorrhage and also the sweat production , so that the body pulls out toxic substances freed. Actual Tarantels are not more poisonous than a wasp, but the long teeth and the increased quantity of poison cause lead sometimes already somewhat violently however only rare fells to death. More recommended it is not to dance the "Dance of Tarantella", better to seek up fast as possible a medical, that only as hint by the way. Following instruments are used in a Tarantella: guitars, mandolins, shepherds flute or Friscalettu named, mouth drums or Marranzanu, Tamborins, accordions and Okarins. This all in the 3/8 tact, settles a good Tarantella. Enjoy that four different versions.

Tarantella dell'Etna
In this version you hear directly at the beginning an accordian, this istrument was not in so popular use in tarantellas, but today it is used very common like you will hear in this tarantella dell'etna. Here the accordion dominates the total piece.

Tarantella Siciliana
Very nice to hear is this tarantella-version with a classical beginning with a jewsharp or also in sicilian called "marranzanu". A master performance that will be accompanied by a friscalettu and other instruments. Also here is an accordion in use and rounds the happy life music softly and pliant off.

Tarantella a Cefalu
In this version, one concentrates more on the Friscalettu, so from the beginning to the end a Friscalettu is to hear.

Tarantella Missinisi
A somewhat faster version is that one from Messina, who by hearing that version can stand still, must have sleep tablets in the blood. ;o) This version moved me especially on.
